Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:


Southeastern Technical Insititure is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of the Practical Nurse Program Director.


 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Hold the legal administrative responsibility for the Practical Nurse Program (day and evening options) in accordance with Massachusetts Board of Nursing rules and regulations.

  • Supervise a nursing curriculum plan which shall provide a variety of learning experiences consistent with the program’s mission or philosophy and objectives or goals.

  • The sciences, arts, humanities, and foundations of the profession, shall be an integral part of the nursing curriculum plan.

  • Coordinates a systematic evaluation of all components of the program, including outcome measurements. Provides leadership, direction, and evaluation for nursing instructors and support staff.

  • Coordinates activities with clinical agencies, including contracts, agreements, faculty and student placements.

  • Maintains student, faculty, and graduate records according to the school’s written policy. Coordinates and prepares the Accreditation requirements for the Board, ACEN, and COE. Interviews potential faculty members and makes recommendations to the T.I Director and Superintendent.

  • Organizes and conducts departmental and in-service meetings. Responsible for recruitment and admission of qualified nursing students and associated processes including testing, open houses, interviews, and acceptance decisions, etc.

  • Counsels students regarding academic or clinical performance, and assists students in meeting their educational and personal goals.

  • Develops, implements and evaluates (with the faculty and student representative), student policies which are consistent with policies of the school, or with differences that are justified by program goals.

  • Reviews and edits STI Practical Nurse handbooks and program materials. Maintains a current knowledge of appropriate educational trends through literature search, professional meetings and organizations, instructional programs, graduate courses, and visits to schools and clinical settings.

  • Plans and implements meetings of the program’s Advisory Board two times per year, replacing and adding community members as needed, and insuring student representation. Represents TI and the Practical Nurse program on the Practical Nurse Educator Council, MARILN and other statewide and national organizations. All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing. Possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in nursing.

  • All degrees must be earned from accredited college or university.

  • Have a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in nursing, or the equivalent, within the past 8 years, including at least 3 years in nursing education.

  • Maintain expertise appropriate to administrative responsibilities.

  • Satisfy the certification requirements of the State Department of Education, Division of Occupational Education as a Supervisor/Director of Vocational-Technical Programs (preferred).

  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate
