Position Summary:

The Business Systems Analyst serves as a critical bridge between business operations and technology, working closely with stakeholders across departments to identify, analyze, and implement technology solutions that enhance organizational efficiency. Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology, this role is responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements, evaluating existing systems, and supporting the design and deployment of scalable, effective IT solutions aligned with company strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements & Analysis

  • Elicit, document, and validate business and functional requirements through interviews, workshops, and process observation.
  • Conduct gap analyses between current and desired system states and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear technical specifications for development and implementation teams.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process maps, workflow diagrams, and system documentation.

Systems & Project Support

  • Collaborate with IT staff and vendors to evaluate, configure, and test business applications and system integrations.
  • Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle including planning, design, testing, deployment, and post-implementation review.
  • Develop user acceptance testing (UAT) plans, coordinate testing activities, and document results.
  • Support data migration, system upgrades, and change management initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a liaison between business units and the IT department to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate meetings, presentations, and working sessions with cross-functional teams.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve system performance and usability.
  • Monitor implemented solutions and measure outcomes against defined success criteria.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business analysis.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in a business analyst, systems analyst, or related role.
  • Experience working with ERP, CRM, or other enterprise business systems strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in distribution, supply chain, or manufacturing environments is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with requirements management tools and documentation platforms (e.g., Confluence, Jira, or similar).
  • Familiarity with SQL or other data querying tools for reporting and data validation.
  • Experience with process modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) and the ability to create clear workflow diagrams.
  • Understanding of system integration concepts, APIs, and data exchange methodologies.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • IIBA CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent certification is a plus.

Physical Demands:

This position is primarily office-based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement. The role requires extended periods of computer use, participation in virtual and in-person meetings, and occasional travel to company facilities or vendor sites.
