About the Role:

The Adult Fitness and Lifestyle (AFL) Personal Trainer is responsible for the delivery of high-quality services in the Fitness Centre area. The Personal Trainer delivers fitness services, prescribes safe exercises, helps clients achieve fitness goals, and consistently demonstrates excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

Program & Service Delivery and Relationship Development

  • Develop custom training programs suitable for each member’s experience, with oversight from the AFL Supervisor.
  • Lead safe, effective individual and group sessions focused on client goals and abilities.
  • Provide high-quality services to help members reach their fitness objectives.
  • Proactively greet and assist members professionally.
  • Consistently provide exceptional member service, building relationships with members and supporting them in achieving their fitness objectives.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with volunteers and other staff team members. Address member concerns and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prospect new clients and promote YMCA membership, programs and services.
  • Maintain current certifications as required.

Health and Safety 

  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of all Fitness Centre equipment and accessories during sessions.
  • Respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Intervene and educate members regarding high risk, unsafe or dangerous exercises.
  • Accurately complete all required safety documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Current personal training certification from an approved certifying body.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (Bachelor of Physical Education, NAIT-PFT) is considered an asset.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR-C.
  • Strong computer skills with Office 365 word, excel and other applications an asset.
  • Flexibility required – evenings and weekends.
  • Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
