Primary Responsibilities
Carry out daily activities in support of grant-funded programs that encourage energy efficiency and environmental sustainability; Engage with public sector employees, elected officials, environmental professionals, businesses, non-profits, and the public, especially those in underserved areas, to educate them about Natural Resources programs and encourage adoption of resources presented; Perform research, writing, editing, and production of informational materials ready for publication and/or dissemination to the public; Adhere to agency policies and local, state, and Federal contractual reporting requirements; Work with Administrative Assistant to maintain a contact database that includes, but is not limited to member government officials and staff, other public sector entities and staff, and general interest parties; Maintain contact with stakeholders to facilitate cross-project communications and relations; Participate in information sharing with partner agencies engaged in similar activities; Provide direct assistance to agency stakeholders and partners; Collaborate with other Outreach Specialists where missions overlap.
Tasks Performed
Create, organize, promote, execute, and report on outreach events that advance the objectives of Natural Resources programs, to include workshops, roundtables, presentations, community events, site visits, and more; Regularly communicate across a variety of media with agency partners, stakeholders, and residents about internal and external events, opportunities, and initiatives; Document daily and/or weekly activities to facilitate grant reporting; Keep up-to-date with regional progress toward grant-specific goals and objectives; Curate items of interest to stakeholders for a monthly newsletter or on an as-needed basis; Provide one-on-one assistance to stakeholders in the form of technical assistance, information sharing, and facilitating connections to field experts; Communicate rulemakings, public comment periods, and grant opportunities to local governments, businesses, organizations, and residents; Develop working knowledge of local, state, and federal air quality regulations and incentives; Maintain and regularly update website; Convene working groups to address specific regional air quality and energy issues; Compile, analyze, and evaluate program reports and educational materials to provide up-to-date information regarding services to the public; Gather data to identify underserved communities and inform outreach strategies in those areas.
Essential Functions
Adhere to contractual obligations and AACOG policies; Interface regularly with local energy efficiency experts in the public and private sector; Build relationships with local, state, and Federal energy management and air quality professionals; Plan projects, workshops, special events and outreach efforts; Conduct public presentations to community leaders, partner agencies and local service organizations; Attend appropriate meetings, workgroups, networking events, conferences, and workshops; Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Degree/Job Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning, Public Administration/Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field; At least two (2) years of customer service or related experience, preferably for a governmental entity or non-profit organization involved in the provision of social services programs; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the aforementioned tasks and functions.
Other Qualifications
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Must possess inter-personal, presentation, and public speaking skills; Must possess excellent writing skills for the creation of public documents; Valid driver’s license and insurance coverage; At times, employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle for business purposes, and mileage will be paid in accordance with AACOG reimbursement policy.
This position is a Pay Grade 12, with a starting hourly rate of $23.11. This is a non-exempt position. Open until Filled. Only electronic online applications will be accepted.
