Job Description

Role

The candidate will act as Enterprise Risk Manager based in Germany, reporting to the Jefferies GmbH CRO and working as part of a wider team within the Enterprise Risk Department headed by the Global Head of Enterprise Risk Management. The role requires the applicant to take a key role in sponsoring and applying economic capital models, supporting Firmwide stress testing and scenario analysis, supporting entity-wide risk analysis and reporting, and conducting Firmwide portfolio risk analysis across business lines.

Given the strategic nature of the role deliverables, the successful candidate can expect to gain significant exposure to the senior leadership team across the European business, regional stakeholders, and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain key risk management frameworks, including strategy, taxonomy, appetite, and governance cycles, as well as approvals and documentation.
  • Make sure these frameworks are well-aligned with financial resources such as capital, liquidity, balance sheet, as well as the Country Risk Framework and Business Risk Stress Testing Framework.
  • Prepare ICARA reports covering Pillar 2 economic capital, stress testing, reverse stress testing, scenario planning, and related documents—including coordination, drafting, and review.
  • Applying methodologies for calculating economic capital across various risks: market, counterparty credit, concentration, CVA, IRBB, structural FX, operational, and business risks.
  • Design scenarios to fit JEG’s risk taxonomy and overall risk profile.
  • Complete quarterly assessments of capital adequacy and update ICA, integrating findings into both management and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve in a second-line oversight role by reviewing and challenging capital resources, Pillar 1 capital calculations, and planning for future capital requirements and availability.
  • Generate and present risk information to Stress Testing Committees, Executive Boards, and regulators; handle regulatory submissions and coordination.
  • Take the lead in identifying emerging risks, scanning horizons, and linking risk results to business planning.
  • Help strengthen and improve firmwide stress testing, risk culture, and governance procedures.

Person Specification

The following skills and experience are essential for this role:

  • Expert in prudential regulation, regulatory returns, and capital calculations (IFP/IFR, MaRisk, ICAAP, ILAAP).
  • Strong understanding of financial risk in investment banking, across a range of financial products including fixed income and equity (both cash and derivatives).
  • Solid foundation in statistics, econometrics, and modelling for risk.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision, reliably meets tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator; effective with stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Consistently delivers high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated leader and collaborative team player, focused on achieving targets.
  • Proficient in problem analysis, solution delivery, and driving business process improvements.
  • Fluent in spoken and written German and English.
