DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Systems Engineer plays a critical role in providing Level 3 technical support and ownership of server infrastructure, backups, and virtual environments. The Senior Systems Engineer is an advocate for documentation and consistent technical procedures.
The incumbent will:
- Take ownership of the bank's server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Server environments
- Work with the Systems Administrators to ensure they have clear procedures and processes for maintenance on server architecture
- Ensure the availability, performance, and security of servers to meet business needs
- Implement and manage backup solutions, such as Veeam Backup & Replication, to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans and procedures including regular disaster recovery testing with Network Engineers
- Administer virtual environments using Nutanix and VMware, including provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting virtual machines
- Optimize virtual infrastructure for performance, scalability, and resource utilization
- Configure and manage storage solutions, including Fiber Channel and iSCSI storage arrays, to meet performance and capacity requirements
- Ensure data integrity and availability in storage environments
- Provide Level 3 technical support for server or cloud related issues, serving as an escalation point for complex problems
- Spend 10-20% of your time on ticket resolution, ensuring timely and efficient problem resolution for end-users
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes
- Collaborate with the Network Engineer and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly
- Devote 80-90% of working hours to completing IT Engineering Team owned projects, assigned to you by the IT Engineering Manager
- Provide technical expertise and guidance during project planning and execution
- Thoroughly document all projects and their outcomes, including architecture

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer in a complex IT environment
- Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting
- Experience with backup solutions, preferably Veeam Backup & Replication
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies, preferably Nutanix and VMware
- Familiarity with storage technologies, including Fiber Channel and iSCSI
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The physical requirements and environmental conditions of this position consist primarily of:
- Sustained standing and sitting
- Frequent use of PC, including typing or sustained attention to monitor
- Occasional lifting and/or moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Normal office environment with comfortable internal temperatures and low-level noise
