Job Summary
O'Leary Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Family Consumer Science Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a positive learning environment that encourages students to explore various aspects of family and consumer sciences, including nutrition, personal finance, and family dynamics. This full-time position requires a commitment to student development and the ability to engage students through innovative teaching methods.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets state and national standards in family consumer science.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities and real-world applications.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, including tests, projects, and presentations.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and collaboration.
- Provide guidance and support to students in understanding the importance of family and consumer sciences in everyday life.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate family consumer science concepts across the curriculum.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as cooking clubs or financial literacy workshops.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Stay current with trends and advancements in family consumer sciences and incorporate relevant topics into the curriculum.
- Attend professional development workshops and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Requirements
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Family Consumer Sciences, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Family Consumer Science, related area, or K-8 General Certification.
- Strong understanding of family consumer science principles and best teaching practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Experience working with middle school students is preferred.
- Proficiency in using technology and digital resources for teaching and learning.
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with the school community.
