Description
This position is responsible for leading and coordinating all activities of QA Technicians on 3rfd shift while providing technical guidance and support to production departments
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accomplish quality assurance objectives by training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job performance
- Assist in achieving company objectives by communicating daily quality issues to ensure that any issues are corrected as quickly as possible
- Maintain quality assurance program by initiating and reviewing policies and procedures
- Supports operations in ensuring that training, testing, and new product development is done in compliance with applicable USDA, customer, and company standards.
- Ensures federal and state compliance with all USDA and company Food Safety and QA policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent degree required; 4 year degree in food science, engineering, or related field preferred
- 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in quality assurance/quality control
- Strong computer skills
- Specific knowledge and direct experience in ensuring adherence with FDA and USDA regulations, plant production processes/systems, SQF, GMP, and HACCP
- Ability to effectively articulate and present the company’s quality strategy
- Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Position will frequent the production floor, so operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions will be required. Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits and other allergens are present.
