We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Assistant Comptroller to join our team. This is a primarily remote position based in the Tampa, Florida area, ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both hands-on bookkeeping and broader financial oversight responsibilities.
This role combines day-to-day accounting operations with financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and operational finance support. The right candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting functions
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and merchant accounts
- Maintain accurate general ledger records
- Assist with payroll processing and reporting
- Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules
- Support month-end and year-end close activities
Financial Oversight
- Assist with budgeting and cash flow monitoring
- Help maintain financial controls and accounting procedures
- Track expenses and identify reporting discrepancies
- Coordinate with outside accountants and tax professionals
- Support audit preparation and compliance requirements
- Assist leadership with financial analysis and operational reporting
Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations
- Experience preparing financial reports
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Excellent communication and follow-through
Preferred Experience
- Experience with:
- QuickBooks
- Microsoft Excel
- cloud-based accounting systems
- Experience in small or mid-sized businesses
- Full-charge bookkeeping experience preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $65,000 – $80,000 DOE
