Reporting to the VP, Engineering, the Electrical Engineer will develop and deliver electrical designs and engineering support for IREN’s AI data center power infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, scalability, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution (Master’sdegree is an asset).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license, or ability to obtain licensure in the role’sjurisdictionwithin an agreed time frame.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in low voltage power distribution, equipment manufacturing, consulting, mission-critical facilities, or industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of power distribution equipment such as switchgear/switchboards, protective devices, transformers, and generators (gensets), including validation and acceptance testing practices.
- Proficiencywith electrical system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools) and the ability to produce and interpret engineering calculations and study reports.
- Experience delivering projects for datacenter, mission-critical, or industrial clients, including coordination with internal stakeholders and external authorities asrequired.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Job responsibilities
- Engineer low voltage power distribution solutions that support IREN’s AI data center operations, including equipment selectionand integration of switchboards/switchgear, protective devices, transformers, and generators (gensets).
- Perform and/or review power system studies and calculations for datacenterelectrical infrastructure (e.g., load flow, short circuit, equipment duty, protection coordination/selectivity, grounding, and arc flash inputs as applicable) and document design basis and assumptions.
- Partner with IREN’s datacenterdesign, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to translate reliability, maintainability, and scalability requirements into practical electrical designs and standard build packages.
- Define and execute (or oversee) verification activities including design reviews, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning support; troubleshoot issues and drive corrective actions with vendors and internal teams.
- Provide technical oversight for suppliers and EPC/contractor partners, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and ensuring equipment and installation meet IREN standards, applicable codes, and project requirements.
- Create and maintain data center electrical engineering deliverables such as single-line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, calculations, protection settings inputs (asapplicable), specifications, and commissioning/test documentation; ensure accurate handover to operations.
