    Forest Lake Area School District is currently seeking applicants for the position of Leave Coordinator starting May 18, 2026. 

     

    POSITION:Leave Coordinator 
    LOCATION:District Office
    WORK SCHEDULE:8 hours/day, 5 days/week, and 260 days/year
    STARTING RATE OF PAY/RANGE:$25.86 - $30.15/Hour

    Job Description:

    Forest Lake Area Schools is located on the Northeastern edge of the Twin Cities metro area with approximately 6,500 students, and an annual budget of $100 million.  We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for this full time, 12-month position.

     

    We are seeking an individual to play a vital role in delivering accurate, compliant, and employee-focused benefits administration. The Leave Coordinator processes and coordinates all leave items for certified and classified employees in a timely and accurate manner consistent with Federal and State Law, Negotiated Labor Agreements and School Board Policy.  The Leave Coordinator works closely with and defer to the Senior Accountant for Benefits and the Supervisor of Accounting.

     

     Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

            Administers and coordinates employee leave processes within the finance system, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, labor agreements, and school board policies.

            Monitors and verifies leave data for accuracy, calculates leave and holiday pay, and ensures proper reporting to state and federal agencies.

            Collaborates with supervisors, employees, and Human Resources to resolve complex leave-related issues and maintain accurate employee leave records and database uploads.

            Tracks daily employee absences, vacation, and leave usage, ensuring proper submission and coordinating coverage such as long-term substitutes when needed.

            Manages specialized leave processes including sick leave buyback, leave bank assignments, workers' compensation, long-term disability, and childcare leave.

            Oversees related payroll functions such as garnishments and adapts leave processes to remain compliant with evolving legal requirements while supporting administrative needs.

     

    Qualifications:

    Minimum requirements:  High school diploma plus good computer skills, Knowledge of benefit accounting systems and bargaining unit/employee contract language.  Good communication skills to communicate effectively with employee and administration.

     

     

    Skill, Knowledge, Abilities:

            Computer skills in Microsoft products, specifically Excel and ability to learn new program applications quickly.

            Perform work assignments requiring attention to detail, precision and accuracy and in accordance with set deadlines.

            Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume processing environment, as well as strong verbal and written communications.

     

    Salary & Benefits:

            $25.86-$30.15/hour, 8 hours day, 52 weeks per year

            Accrue 1.25 day of Sick leave for each month worked
