ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide subject-specific content help to students through either individual (scheduled) or centralized tutoring (drop-in) assistance; Facilitate active learning; Provide guidance and direction to tutees; Refer tutees to appropriate college offices, departments or professionals, when necessary; Maintain confidentiality of student performance; Complete all required tutor training as a condition of employment; Complete all required payroll paperwork required prior to the start of hire date; Maintain accurate and regular records of tutoring sessions with provided Tutor Log; Complete and Submit all tutor logs and timecards to Tutor Supervisor as posted on Student Payroll Calendar; Complete and/or participate in regular evaluations. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher Maintain a course grade of B+ or higher for any HSU courses you plan to tutor (with faculty recommendation) Attend mandatory tutor training to complete hours required towards tutor certification. (Tutor training is scheduled throughout the first and second semester of tutoring.)(Copy/paste position specific information here) Supervision and Training: All tutors are supervised and evaluated by Tutor Supervisor. All tutors must participate in tutor training workshops Certification (CRLA PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit for extended periods ADDITIONAL Must maintain cumulative GPA of
which total 10 hours of training over 2 semesters. This will include 6 hours of face-to-face
workshops and 4 hours of self-paced online training. Training will also include
1-2 hours of peer tutor observation. The first two face-to-face training workshops
must be completed during the tutor’s first semester of work. We encourage all tutors to complete all 10
hours of training within two semesters of employment. Once completed, trained
tutors will be eligible for certification. Our training program is being developed to align with College Reading
and Learning Association’s International Tutor Program
