Job Description
POSITION: Special Education OP - ELA
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Assistant Principal
CONTRACT LENGTH: 202 Days
CATEGORY: 1
MISSION:
West Aurora is a Multilingual School District that supports several languages across our
buildings. Our office Professionals serve as the first point of contact in each setting. It is our
mission to build relationships and strengthen the bond between Parents and District. We strive
to make families feel welcome and comfortable in their native language whenever possible.
IEP & PPS Systems Support
● In collaboration with the Team Leader, schedule and coordinate IEP, DRM, EDC, and
related student support meetings.
● In collaboration with the Team Leader, generate and prepare IEP system documents
and required compliance paperwork.
● Enter, monitor, and maintain accurate student data within IEP systems and district
platforms.
● Support PPS staff and service providers with documentation, timelines, and compliance
tracking.
● Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all special education records.
Family Communication & Bilingual Support
● Notify families of scheduled meetings via phone and email.
● Provide Spanish translation and interpretation for IEP meetings and parent
communications as needed.
● Support bilingual family cases through ongoing communication, reminders, and
clarification of processes.
● Translate school communications and documents as needed.
● Make parent phone calls on behalf of the administration and service providers.
Office & Student Support
● Monitor and support guest check-in procedures, visitor management, and student
supervision as needed.
● Assist with phone calls, attendance support, and student-related inquiries.

Systems & Technical Support
● Maintain working knowledge of district systems, including IEP platforms, PowerSchool,
School Messenger, Frontline, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
● Maintain office equipment (copiers, printers, laminator) to ensure operational efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities
● Collaborate with administration and service providers to support student needs.
● Participate in home visits with service providers when needed.
● Perform other duties as assigned to support student services and building operations.
● Ability to cross-train with Office Professionals within your settings to ensure coverage for
necessary duties in the event there is an absence or vacant position, or a high volume of
work within the building where you can add support.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit
and see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
regularly/daily. The employee is required to use computers and other office equipment. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read type or hand-written
material. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet but can also be that of a
school and can be loud when in places like gyms and cafeterias. The employee is continuously
