Description

The Parts Counter Sales personnel will assist in making the Parts Department a profitable center by focusing on providing excellent customer service using established customer sales standards.



Major Duties and Responsibilities:





  • Determine replacement part required, according to inspection of old part, customer request, or customer description of the malfunction



  • Advise customer on substitution or modification of part when identical replacement is not available



  • Utilize computer to determine part stock number and price



  • Demonstrate equipment to customer and explain functioning of equipment



  • Prepare sales slip or sales contract



  • Receive and fill telephone orders for parts



  • Inspect returned part for defects and exchange defective part or refund money



  • Keep inventory control on cores to be returned



  • Fill salesmen’s orders for new truck parts



  • Prepare wreck estimates and fax to customer



  • Keep display area updated, organized, and priced according to sales fliers



  • Keep work area neat and organized



  • Assist in taking physical inventory of stock



  • Complete training requirements for the parts department


  • Attend scheduled parts meetings

Qualifications


Education/Training or Experience:





  • High School diploma or GED required



  • Diploma from Technical College preferred



  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills required


  • General knowledge of trucks, truck parts, and the trucking industry preferred
