| Job purpose |
A technical services apprentice is an entry-level technician that will learn the tools and skills necessary to become a technician.
| Duties and responsibilities |
- Provide support to all technicians, including supervisor
- Prepare all tools and equipment for scheduled jobs
- Must become familiar with using various types of test equipment such as multi-meters and meter test boards, hand and power tools.
- Ability to learn and understand electronic control equipment
- Must become familiar with satellite radio and satellite internet systems
- Ability to inventory various types or parts and equipment
- Ability to perform building maintenance as necessary
- Learn and comply with Cooperative’s safety rules and procedures
- Maintain confidential information
| Qualifications |
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Possess a valid Texas drivers’ license
- Insurable with the Cooperative's auto insurance carrier
- Must possess oral and written communications skills in the English language
- Must possess good interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship with all Cooperative employees, members, suppliers and consultants
- Must be or become certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
| Working conditions |
- Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat and cold, high winds or stormy conditions, available to respond in emergency situations
- Work may be performed in an awkward position including stooping, bending, crawling, climbing, etc. in the installation, repair and service of wiring and apparatus
- Ability to work in a confined area/space
- Some heavy lifting may be required
- To ensure all employees are provided with drug free and alcohol free working conditions, pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable cause and random drug and alcohol tests are conducted on all employees
- Some overtime hours may be required
- Subject to travel which may include overnight stay

- Required to pass a physical examination when employed
- Must be able to work at various heights
- Must have sufficient health to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job
- Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of weights
- Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds
- Occasionally lifts items that weigh up to 100 pounds
- Excellent hand-eye coordination is required
- Must be capable of digging trenches for conduit and cabling runs
