Responsibilities
- The Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for the clerical support of the perioperative service department by reviewing surgical
procedures preparing patient charges and auditing records for accuracy - Reviews and enters clinical charges for perioperative service on a daily basis
- Generates reports utilizing the Electronic Medical Record
- Reviews reports generated by Cerner and corrects, edits and modifies charges as needed, assists providers with billing questions and provides feedback
- Works with reimbursement billing personnel to identify missing charges
- Coordinates with vendors, service line coordinators and billing as needed to ensure charges are appropriate
- Promotes a positive work attitude and provide patient centered care
- Develops a sense of team, initiates and participates in team development:
- maintains professional growth and development through an ongoing process of formal and informal education
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone
- Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
- Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit
- Completes all mandatory unit. educational and hospital requirement
- Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of billing or directly related experience in a medical business office Required
- Electronic Health Records and Microsoft Office experience Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
