Job Summary:
The Plumbing Estimator will gather and analyze financial data to estimate and allocate costs for a current or proposed product.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Meets and collaborates with clients, engineers, and other staff to understand the products being developed.
· Reviews and analyzes existing and proposed processes, staff, and materials; identifies cost-reduction opportunities.
· Determines needs for additional staff, machinery, materials, and other resources.
· Estimates costs of new equipment or capital investment necessary for production.
· Drafts cost estimates for projects based on data analysis and research; distributes reports to engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
· Prepares reports forecasting production scenarios; makes recommendations based on findings.
· Identifies the pricing structure required for products to sell at profit.
· Responsible for the sizing, designing, and costing of plumbing system installations in Residential New Construction Homes.
· Provide necessary support to team members including management, sales staff, estimators, warehouse, builders, and customers.
· Design efficient plumbing systems in accordance with company procedures and industry guidelines as well as per local, state, and federal building and energy conservation codes.
· Perform accurate equipment and material takeoffs of sizes and quantities from design drawings.
· Manage multiple tasks while meeting or exceeding stated deadlines.
· Work with other estimators, sales staff, field supervisors and operations manager to update existing design master layouts and estimates.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to create forecasts based on financial data.
· Proficient with accounting software and cost software.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Extensive knowledge of plumbing codes.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or related field experience preferred.
· Two years of related experience required.
· At least one year experience in plumbing design and estimating.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
