Safety Management Systems is one of the largest providers of Health, Safety, Environmental, Medical and Training services to the Upstream, Midstream, Refinery and Petrochemical markets. We are currently looking for a Production Safety Specialist with Gulf of America experience.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide strong safety leadership to both company and contractor teams, driving exemplary HSE performance.
· Communicate and uphold company safety expectations, fostering a culture that is informed, mindful, fair, respectful, and committed to learning.
· Lead and participate in the onsite initial incident investigation process.
· Conduct field audits of Permit to Work, isolations, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and worksite activities.
· Facilitate and engage in safety meetings, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding actions.
· Participate in platform emergency response drills to maintain proficiency in procedures.
· Identify hazards and conduct risk analysis for offshore operations.
· Collaborate with offshore teams, logistics, and Gulf of America HSE personnel to ensure proper waste classification, documentation, and disposal.
· Manage and communicate Control of Work audit findings.
· Input and maintain incident records in the company’s incident management system.
Required Qualifications:
· Minimum 3 years of relevant HSE experience in the oil & gas industry (offshore construction experience is a plus).
· In-depth knowledge of HSE issues, regulations, and best practices relevant to oil & gas operations (familiarity with Gulf of America regulations preferred).
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels.
· Team-oriented mindset with adaptability to change.
· Effective oral and written communication skills; able to present complex topics concisely.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Exceptional attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working on offshore oil & gas production facilities.
· Knowledge of Gulf of America regulatory frameworks (BSEE, USCG).
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in health & safety, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
Work Schedule:
· Rotational schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off.
· Crew changes occur at various Gulf Coast locations.
· Offshore housing provided during work period.
· Occasional additional work assignments may be required
