POSITION SUMMARY:
The SFP Group Leader is responsible for facilitating program sessions as a representative of the YMCA. The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is designed to support and empower families through interactive workshops focused on communication, parenting skills, and family bonding.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead interactive workshops and group sessions for families enrolled in the Strengthening Families Program. Facilitate discussions, activities, and exercises designed to enhance communication, problem-solving, and positive family interactions. Create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where families feel valued and respected.
- Implement the SFP curriculum with fidelity, following established guidelines and protocols. Ensure that workshop content is delivered effectively, covering topics such as family strengths, communication skills, conflict resolution, and goal setting. Adapt curriculum materials as needed to meet the needs and interests of participants.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies to parents and caregivers to support positive parenting practices and family dynamics. Offer resources, referrals, and information on community services and supports to help families address challenges and build resilience.
- Engage children and youth in age-appropriate activities and discussions that promote social-emotional skills, self-esteem, and healthy relationships within the family. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and participating in group activities.
- Facilitate opportunities for families to strengthen their bonds and create lasting memories together. Plan and coordinate family-friendly activities, outings, and events that promote quality time, teamwork, and connection among family members.
- Collect and maintain accurate records of participant attendance, program evaluations, and outcomes data. Compile and analyze program data to assess participant progress, satisfaction, and program effectiveness. Use data insights to inform program improvements and enhancements.
- Collaborate with program partners, community agencies, and other stakeholders to promote SFP and recruit participants. Build relationships with families, school personnel, and community leaders to foster ongoing support and engagement in the program.
