Job Description

The Business Development function sits at the front line of our customer journey, serving a crucial role in the broader Commercial organization. As a Business Development Representative (BDR) you will be primarily responsible for managing the top of the funnel for our business development pipeline – generating/qualifying leads using independent judgement related to bid management, including ensuring timely delivery of all bid documents; quoting and negotiating prices and other key terms; engaging with former customers and analyzing collected data to determine reasons for lost business; accurate forecasting of new business and collaborating with Account Managers to close sales.

 

From this role you will also be given a number of additional opportunities to add value to the Commercial organization, such as serving as end-to-end account manager for select accounts, strategizing disposition of non-moving inventories, supporting with marketing administration for trade shows and customer collateral, and more.

 

The ideal candidate for this role is energetic with a high degree of initiative, great communication skills, and passionate about a career in customer-facing & sales roles. This company is a dynamic and nimble customer-driven organization, and this role is a great on-ramp into progressively expanding within our Commercial organization.

  • Establish prospect contact via email, phone, or social outreach to connect with new prospects and get to the right decision-makers
  • Qualify leads for mutual interest between the Confidential Company and the prospect, ensuring both parties are aligned and that the company is able and interested in servicing the customer before proceeding further in the sales process.
  • Manage accounts as assigned; manage the customer relationship through the entire sales lifecycle, from qualification to presenting, quoting, sampling, gaining approvals, and winning business
  • Keep company's CRM up to date with accurate information for the sales pipeline; this includes customer information, contact information, opportunity tracking, and more
  • Assisting with liquidation of non-moving inventories, finding new and creative outlets as needed to maximize capture of value
  • Periodically attend trade shows, assisting with booth management, customer meeting preparation, post meeting summaries and action items, and more
  • Participate in sales calls and meetings with the sales team; support as needed with collateral, summaries, and action item
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • 1-3 years of experience in sales, customer service, or marketing roles preferred, but not required
  • Passionate about working with customers is a must, whether possessing sales experience or transitioning from an adjacent role with the drive and ambition to succeed
  • A strong communicator – excellent written and verbal skills required for frequent interaction with senior level executives from leading global companies
  • Organized and hands on – focused and on-task with the ability to close deals
  • Growth-minded and goal-oriented, with the ability to leverage provided training, tools, and guidance to progress and succeed in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Location: Onsite in the Port Washington area (4 days per week in-office)


Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $75,000 – $80,000, with potential for additional performance-based incentives.
