Job Description

Position: SUNY Reconnect Lead Ambassador (part-time/grant funded)

                           Up to 25 hours a week

 

Position Summary:

The SUNY Reconnect Support Coordinator will serve as a key team member supporting adult learners 

(ages 25–55) eligible under the SUNY Reconnect Initiative. The coordinator will lead targeted outreach and onboarding efforts, assist with aid navigation, and act as a connector between adult students and campus resources to promote successful re-entry and retention. This part-time role emphasizes hands-on engagement, collaboration across departments, and student-centered support during flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary navigator for SUNY Reconnect adult learners, helping students re-enter higher education through personalized application and enrollment support, financial aid guidance, and resource referrals.
  • Maintain and update student records in the system, including coding SUNY Reconnect attributes and monitoring ongoing eligibility to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Lead targeted outreach and follow-up with prospective and returning adult learners, including phone, email, and text campaigns.
  • Conduct virtual or in-person onboarding appointments to ensure students are aware of degree pathways, credit for prior learning options, and available support.
  • Coordinate with admissions, advising, financial aid, and student services to ensure timely communication and resolution of adult student needs.
  • Organize and participate in virtual and in-person adult learner information sessions, orientation activities, and check-ins.
  • Serve as a liaison to community partners (e.g., job centers, workforce boards, libraries) to support adult learner referrals and pipeline development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience; 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with adult learners, non-traditional students, or student services
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfort with technology, including virtual meeting platforms and CRM systems
  • Familiarity with college enrollment processes and basic financial aid concepts
  • Availability for evening and weekend hours 
  • Hybrid in-person and remote work environment with evening/weekend availability required
  • Flexible in-person daytime hours, 2-5 weeknight evenings in-person from 5 p.m. -7 p.m , & up to 5 hours remote on Sat or Sun, at least 1x/month

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language commonly spoken in the community)
  • Experience with community outreach, re-engagement campaigns, or case management
  • Knowledge of CRM systems, data management, or student information platforms

 

Starting Salary: $ 22.00 - $25.00 hour
