Job Description

Summary
Earl Harris Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-Time Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the academic and social-emotional development of students with diverse learning needs. This role involves collaborating with educators, parents, and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure that all students receive the appropriate resources and support to thrive.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt and modify curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Assess and monitor student progress regularly, adjusting teaching methods and interventions as necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, diversity, and student engagement.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any necessary support services.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to the development and review of IEPs and other student support plans.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and IEP documentation in compliance with legal and school district requirements.
- Provide training and support to general education teachers on best practices for inclusive education and classroom management strategies.
- Stay current with special education laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and effective teaching.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.

-Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.

-Provide direction, supervision and evaluation of teacher assistants as directed

-Comply with school Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.

-Other job duties as assigned

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Oklahoma state teaching certification in Special Education Mild/Moderate or Special Education Comprehensive

-Valid Oklahoma state teaching certification in Elementary Education
- Experience working with elementary-aged students with special needs, preferably in an inclusive setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to create and implement engaging and differentiated instructional strategies.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing student records and documentation.
