SUBSTITUTE LPN
6.5 hours/day
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assess and treat minor injuries and provide first aid and basic health care for ill, injured, or medically fragile students in accordance with established procedures.
- Respond appropriately to student health concerns and emergencies occurring while students are under school supervision.
- Assist in implementing health care plans for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies), including supporting diabetic students as needed.
- Assist in the safe administration of medications in accordance with state law, district policy, and under the direction of the District Nurse.
- Perform delegated health procedures for students with special needs as directed by the District Nurse.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student health needs, services provided, and required health records in compliance with legal and district requirements.
- Communicate and collaborate with the District Nurse, school staff, and when appropriate, students’ private medical providers to support student health and well-being.
- Assist with maintaining immunization records, health screenings, and other assigned health room tasks.
- Complete accident and incident reports for students and staff as required.
- Perform clerical duties related to health records and other student documentation.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized health room environment.
- Follow confidentiality requirements and perform other related duties as assigned.

- Models healthful practices.
- Performs related duties as assigned for direct care of student.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university or Bachelor in Science of Nursing is preferred; pediatric nursing experience is preferred; community health nursing or school based nursing experience is recommended; or, any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, WA state preferred.
- First aid, CPR, and AED certification prior to starting employment.
- Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation.
- Maintenance of all licenses and certifications as a condition of continued employment.
- OSPI fingerprint clearance
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Ability to lift 60 pounds
- Job requires work in noisy and active environments both indoors and outdoors.
