JOB SUMMARY

A UNIQUE RUNNING START OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

We are seeking several Advanced Manufacturing Leadership Academy Interns to join our team in Auburn, Washington. The Advanced Manufacturing Leadership Academy (AMLA) is a nine-month concurrent enrollment, dual credit educational career launch program for high school seniors that will provide a foundation of knowledge and skills for a successful future in advanced manufacturing. Participants will earn credits to complete their high school graduation and 45 credits towards an AAS degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technologies at Clover Park Technical College.

Students will benefit from the extensive experience of college instructors and hands-on training with current industry professionals. During the AMLA, participants will be employed part-time at Skills Inc. and compensated for assigned production work. Qualified students will utilize the Running Start program to cover tuition costs. No pre-requisites or prior experience necessary.

Participants will study terms and concepts helping manufacturers move from manual output to more automated solutions―including robotics, 3D printing, and digital inspection methods―become proficient and work-ready in the operation of CNC machines and dimensional inspection, as well as gain leadership skills by participating in real-life problem-solving activities―applying the principles of Lean to improve processes.

Prior to graduation from the academy, students will be provided time and guidance on how to structure their work-based learning journey beyond AMLA. Supported pathways include additional education aimed at AAS and BAS degrees, apprenticeships, or workplace roles that will lead to a well-rounded career in the field with continued leadership potential.
