Key Accountabilities
- Develop innovative design solutions for structural components and systems using CAD.
- Manage the design function (models, BOM, Visual aids, 2D Drawings, weld reports, CEF).
- Interpret and apply correct engineering standards and to product design.
- Lead VAVE initiatives for internal and external customers.
- Conduct DFMEA/QFD/DFM Workshops with customers and suppliers.
- Conduct technological benchmarking of new materials and processes applicable to structural products.
- Provide technical support to commercial and product development areas in the pursuit of new business.
- Coordinate / Support continuous improvement, best practices and standardization initiatives.
- Coordinate / Support prototype builds.
- Expand Metalsa design competencies past frames, developing design solutions at a systems and vehicle level.
- Propose, lead and manage multi partner product innovation projects.
- Mentor and provide training for junior engineers.
- Develop and implement product-based business innovation ventures
- Promote Metalsa Technology in Industry forums and trade associations.
Technical Knowledge
- Advanced use of one of the following CAD software:
- CATIA V4 & V, Pro-E, Solid (Preferred) / NX,
- Advanced use of Excel and MS Office
- Strong knowledge in structural mechanics.
- Knowledge of the product development cycle in automotive / commercial vehicle industry - from concept to production (APQP)
- General knowledge of vehicle chassis systems and vehicle dynamics.
- GD&T Advanced – complete assembly tolerance scheme.
- 3D Modeling and interpretation of FEA results.
- Interpretation of technical standards.
- Capable of conducting brainstorming and technical workshops.
- Technical Business Case Development.
Academics & Experience
B.E – Mechanical, Automobile (required), Post Graduation (Preferable)
Working experience of 8 – 16 years. In the automotive industry, with exposure in NPD, APQP, CAD & CAM Areas, IPR Process.
