Job Description
Role/Purpose:
The Brake Press Operator (F/S/S 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM) is responsible for the Brake Press, uses brake presses and miscellaneous equipment to create, shape and customize materials into a variety of forms as dictated by mechanical prints while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reads blueprints from designers and engineers.
  • Runs bend and forming operations using standard dies.
  • Operates Manual Box Brake, Slip Roller and GMC Power Roller.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Follows the work schedule as assigned, ability to layout the correct priorities for the work scheduled.
  • Ensure all parts produced is confirmed in SAP, tagged and stagged in proper locations.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on machinery.
  • Performs Quality at The Source checks on made parts.
  • Accurately records actual labor estimates on all production orders.
  • Keeps work area(s) clean and organized to 5S standards.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • High school or equivalent 
  • Numeracy skills (press brake tonnage, nominal pressure, bending moment and bending force).
  • Checks height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and engineered drawings.
  • Ability to load and unload machines with various types of materials.
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve.
  • SAP system experience.
  • Basic Lean Manufacturing understanding.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to perform duties using imperial and metric measurements.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment.
  • Basic setup knowledge.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Dexterity, good hand and eye coordination.
  • Safety Awareness.
  • Ability to work overtime.
