Job Title: Accounting Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Accounting Coordinator?will support the finance department by performing various accounting tasks, including accounts payable, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and reconciling accounts. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Ensure the accuracy of accounting records by verifying that all transactions are recorded precisely and meet reporting deadlines.
- Assist in the optimization of the accounts payable process, ensuring efficiency and compliance with internal control policies.
- Receive, process, and post invoices on a weekly basis with a high degree of accuracy, securing necessary authorizations, maintaining proper documentation, and communicating effectively with vendors and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely payments while adhering to internal controls.
- Communicate the cash requirements to finance leadership to ensure sufficient funds for operations and timely payment of liabilities.
- Maintain accurate W9s and 1099 records to ensure compliance with tax regulations and facilitate year-end reporting.
- Review and process staff expense reports in adherence to travel and expense policies. Verify coding, exchange rates, and maintain the Concur expense reporting system.
- Contribute to the accurate and timely closing of monthly financial statements by assisting in the month-end close process and performing account reconciliations.
- Assist with the annual audit and preparation of Form 990, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
- Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting and the integrity of financial data.
- Assist in gathering and organizing the required documents for various tax filings, such as federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales tax returns, and payroll taxes. Keep track of state tax filing deadlines to ensure compliance and avoid late fees or penalties.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned, supporting the department and organization in meeting its operational goals.
