Responsibilities
- Anticipates volunteer needs and designs materials, processes, procedures, and programs to best meet those needs. Develops and implements volunteer training and leadership programs. Supports volunteer needs and designs opportunities to maximize volunteer engagement.
- Leverages internal and external resources including cross functional teams, volunteers and members to achieve organizational volunteer engagement goals.
- Recruits, trains, develops, and deploys volunteers in accordance with organizational goals. Aligns volunteers’ interests and needs with organizational priorities to design opportunities to maximize volunteer engagement. Ensures inclusion of volunteer perspectives in strategic planning.
- Works with cross-functional teams in the advancement of state and national volunteer strategies and goals.
- Assists volunteers, staff partners, and external volunteer organizations across multiple channels to ensure individuals can effectively contribute to organizational goals and give back to their communities.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree and 5+ years experience working in program management, specifically volunteer program management.
- Experience in recruitment of volunteers with demonstrated effectiveness of recruitment strategies (sales and marketing experience accepted).
- Experience in engagement of volunteers with demonstrated effectiveness.
- Experience in retention of volunteers with demonstrated effectiveness.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to cultural competence.
- Ability to comfortably navigate online databases and Microsoft Office products.
- Valid driver's license, as this role occasionally requires travel.

Hybrid Work Environment
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
