Job Description

Associated Students Inc., CSUF  provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services.

Intramural Sports Lead

Department:

Student Recreation Center

Reports to:

Intramural and Camp Coordinator

Pay Rate:

$18.38 per hour 

Hours:

Up to 20 hours per week

Job Summary:

Intramural Leads will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the department. Intramural Leads may also oversee assigned games to make sure the score and time are accurate and that rules are followed, and participant safety is maintained.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Effectively run leagues and tournaments when the Intramural Coordinator is unavailable
  • Assist the Intramural Coordinator in planning and executing staff trainings for each individual sport
  • Assist the Intramural Coordinator in completing performance evaluations of the Intramural Officials and Attendants.
  • Know, apply, and enforce rules for assigned sports/activities
  • Know the proper court/field set-up for each individual sport
  • Control disruptions when games are in progress
  • Review the Intramural Sports Safety Checklist before the start of activities and ensure that issues on the safety checklists are addressed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for all participants   
  • Provide basic first aid to Intramural participants in case of injury
  • Prepare accident and incident reports as required
  • Officiate or score-keep for assigned sports as needed
  • Assist in specific special events
  • Other duties as assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments

Safety:

  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing

  • Must complete:
    • Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Campus Health and Safety Requirements
    • CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program
    • Data Security and FERPA
    • Gender Equity and Title IX
    • Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
    • First Aid/CPR/AED

within 30 days of hire

Work Environment:

  • This position requires standing for long periods of time as shifts are approximately 4-6 hours long
  • The work environment is generally favorable
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water
  • Moderate noise level
  • Active and very lively environment
