Certified Peer Support Supervisor

 

SUMMARY:

The Peer Support Supervisor is responsible for directly supervising and overseeing Certified Peer Specialists in all aspects of their job responsibilities of providing quality services to consumers in their homes and community settings, including peer interactions and interventions, documentation, recovery-oriented activities and productivity/utilization

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide weekly supervision meetings with certified peer specialists

  • Monitor and review peer specialists’ documentation

  • Ensure that peer specialists follow the 10 fundamental elements and guiding principles of mental health recovery

  • Monitor peer specialist’s interactions and interventions with peers to ensure that peer’s service plan addresses current needs and is focused on provision of quality care

  • Provide consistent feedback, guidance and support to peer specialists and assigned peers

  • Educate and work with peer specialists on identifying and utilizing appropriate community agencies/resources with peers

  • Run daily reports to monitor and proactively address service delivery

  • Assign peer specialists to peers based on availability, peer needs, training, etc.

  • Schedule, monitor and oversee initial 6-hour field supervision completion for new peer specialists

  • Oversee/assist in completing MCO critical incident reports when necessary

  • Complete high-risk reviews and perform any necessary follow-up

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; and

  • Two to four years of mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in peer support services; and Completion of a peer specialist supervisory training curriculum approved by the Department of Public Welfare within 6 months of assuming the position of Peer Support Supervisor

OR

  • Associate’s degree in related field; and

  • Three years of mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in peer support services; and Completion of a peer specialist supervisory training curriculum approved by the Department of Public Welfare within 6 months of assuming the position of Peer Support Supervisor

OR

  • A high school diploma or general equivalency degree; and

  • Four years of mental health direct care experience, which may include experience in peer support services; and Completion of a peer specialist supervisory training curriculum approved by the Department of Public Welfare within 6 months of assuming the position of Peer Support Supervisor

  • Current CPS certification strongly preferred

 

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software Possess effective communication skills

 

SUPERVISION:

  • The position of Peer Support Supervisor is directly accountable to the Program Manager or Regional Director

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

  • The position of Peer Support Supervisor is required to complete weekly supervision notes for all Certified Peer Specialists assigned.

  • The Peer Support Supervisor is also responsible for monitoring utilization reports for assigned Certified Peer Specialists and submitting status reports to direct supervisor

TRAINING

  • The Peer Support Supervisor should keep updated on all changes that occur within the Peer Support Program. It will be necessary, from time to time, for this position to attend training provided by the State of Pennsylvania as well as outside organizations to accomplish this requirement.

  • This position will be required to complete all yearly internal training courses.
