Middle School Health & PE Teacher

Holy Innocents� Episcopal School is seeking a Middle School Health and Physical Education Teacher. The teacher is responsible for developing students� physical fitness and health awareness while promoting discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and lifelong wellness.

HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. The school is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience teaching Health and/or Physical Education at the middle school level.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate students and foster an inclusive, active environment.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and positive behavior management.

Typical Duties

  • Instruct 5 sections of Middle School Health and Physical Education (grades 6�8).
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans focused on fitness, health, and wellness.
  • Monitor and assess student performance and progress.
  • Maintain a safe and structured environment for all activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student growth and program development.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding progress.
  • Maintain equipment and oversee PE facilities.
  • Serve as a coach for two athletic teams within the HIES Athletics Department.

Educational and Other Requirements

  • Bachelor�s degree required (Physical Education, Health, Kinesiology, or related field preferred).
  • Teaching certification or ability to obtain certification in Georgia.
  • Prior experience teaching middle or upper school students preferred.
  • Successful coaching experience in one or more of the following sports preferred: Swim & Dive, Volleyball, Tennis, or Competition Cheer.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing, and safety training required.
