SAU 50 is seeking daily substitutes at a daily rate of $125.
JOB SUMMARY:
-To provide continuity of the instructional program and supervise students in the absence of the classroom teacher or support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-High School Diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
-Must pass a background check.
REPORTS TO:
-Building Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and Preparation
-Report to the School Secretary for the day’s assignment and instructions.
-Become familiar with emergency protocols.
-Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher/support staff to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
-Follow any Individual Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, Behavioral, or Health plans of students.
-Prepare a written summary of the day for the regular teacher.
The Classroom Environment
-Organize spaces for learning which are safe and accessible to all students.
-Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
-Support positive student behavior by reinforcing expectations.
Instruction
-Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.
-Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.
-Respond flexibly to student needs by adjusting the learning experience based on real-time evidence.
Professional Responsibilities
-Exhibits high standards of ethical practice and wise decision making on behalf of students.
-Perform duties assigned to the regular teacher/support staff.
-Keep all information concerning students, parents, staff, or situations confidential.
-Consult with the Principal and/or staff to resolve questions or concerns.
-Report to the school office at the conclusion of the day.
-Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
