With 25,000 employees worldwide, we partner on some of the most impactful infrastructure, development and resource projects across the Asia Pacific. Our people work collaboratively with industry, government and communities to turn ideas into outcomes that benefit both people and the planet.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced General Counsel to join our team on a full-time basis. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

This is a senior role where you will operate as the primary legal advisor to the business. Working closely with executive leadership, you will provide strategic legal advice while leading corporate governance functions.

You will play a key role in supporting business growth, managing risk and ensuring compliance, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders across the organisation.

What you will be doing

  • Providing strategic legal and commercial advice across a broad range of matters
  • Leading contract negotiation and review for clients, suppliers and sub-consultants
  • Supporting board and committee governance requirements
  • Managing corporate governance frameworks, policies and statutory compliance
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting and maintaining company registers
  • Advising on risk management, compliance and business initiatives
  • Supporting senior leaders with decision-making on complex commercial matters
  • Driving legal process improvements, including the use of technology and AI-enabled tools
  • Collaborating with internal teams including finance, tax, insurance, people and safety

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years post-admission experience in commercial or corporate law
  • Admitted to practice law in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in company secretarial and governance responsibilities
  • Strong background in contract law and commercial advisory
  • Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent judgement, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience within consulting, engineering or professional services will be highly regarded

Why join us?

  • Work on complex, high-impact projects across Australia and the Asia Pacific
  • Join a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing culture
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work-life balance
  • Access to professional development, mentoring and learning programs
  • Opportunities to shape governance and legal strategy within a growing business
