MCSO Management Analyst
Salary Range: $61,933.00-$77,416.00
This is a salary exempt position. Pay rates are based on education, skill,
experience level, and internal equity. Internal equity considerations include
an assessment of the applicant’s salary history and qualifications in
comparison to the market rate and requirements for the job.

Position Summary
Supports the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) by advising management
on results and recommending necessary adjustments by conducting research and
analysis, strategic planning & evaluation, grant writing/management,
performance reporting, project management, survey design, group facilitation,
oral presentations, written reports, and data visualization dashboards.
Develops proposals and alternatives by objective analysis and evaluation of
equipment, programs, systems, techniques, and strategies.
Maintains momentum toward demonstrating the department’s continued adherence to
professional standards and to achieving a high level of excellence. Serves as
an internal consultant for the Mecklenburg County Office of Strategy and
Innovation. Assists the MCSO Public Information Manager by providing data for
public/media information requests. The preferred candidate will have grant
management experience researching and identifying grant opportunities and be
able to write coherent, organized, and compelling grant proposals. Complete any
other duties assigned by executive staff members. Reports directly to the Chief
Deputy Sheriff.
Essential Functions:
- Measure the effectiveness of MCSO Operations.
- Respond to and assist with requests from internal and external State, County, local municipality government, external partners, media, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate the development and management of the agency’s Strategic Business Plan.
- Manage and report agency performance data.
- Coordinate with department leadership and apply for and manage federal, state, and private grant reporting.
- Serves as an internal consultant for the Mecklenburg County Office of Strategy & Innovation.
- Work under the guidance of department management on special projects and initiatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business
Administration, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Preferred: A Master’s Degree in Public Administration or a similar
degree is strongly recommended—Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office
Suite, including Power BI.
