Duties

As a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0501-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans remediation program activities, conduct root cause analyses, develop remediation plans, and implement corrective actions for internal and external accounting, audit, and budget deficiencies. Manages financial improvement and audit remediation activities. Develops and maintains supporting documentation for remediation activities and policy revisions. Develops accounting, audit, and internal control policies and practices impacting Transportation Working Capital Fund financial reporting, operating results, and auditability. Collaborates with key stakeholders to improve internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Developing corrective action plans and providing oversight of business process remediation; reviewing milestones for accuracy. Performing quality assurance reviews over policies related to financial reporting, financial management, financial systems, auditing, and accounting processes. Analyzing results of all internal and external remediation progress to draw conclusions for annual financial statement audit and provide assessment results to senior leaders. Performing financial improvement and audit remediation activities at assessable unit level or comparable business process operational units. Overseeing the activities of a process improvement team is highly desirable. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position. IAW Public Law 112-81 and DoD Policy the incumbent shall comply with the requirements of DoD FM Certification program within the allotted time frame.
