As a Senior Structural Designer, you’ll bring advanced expertise in 3D structural modeling and detailed design to support major offshore developments—helping ensure that platforms, modules and substructures are built for performance, safety and long‑term reliability in some of the world’s most demanding environments.
Purpose of the role
In this role, you’ll lead the creation and coordination of detailed 3D structural models for offshore platforms, ensuring discipline excellence, constructability, regulatory compliance and seamless multidisciplinary integration. You’ll play a key part in developing accurate IFC drawings, resolving clashes, guiding junior designers and supporting engineering throughout basic and detailed design phases.
Core responsibilities
- Develop 3D structural models in AVEVA E3D or Hexagon Smart 3D for:
• Jackets
• Topsides
• Decks, modules and substructures
• Auxiliary platforms, bridges and handrails - Implement structural design criteria, including member sizing, offsets and tolerances.
- Prepare and extract:
• IFC structural drawings (GA, details, assemblies)
• Isometrics, construction details and layouts
• Material Take‑Offs (MTO) and Bills of Materials (BOM) - Coordinate 3D models with Piping, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation and Process disciplines.
- Perform and resolve clash detection, ensuring consistency between the 3D model, drawings and supporting documents.
- Apply project standards, libraries and structural catalogs to all deliverables.
- Support engineering during technical reviews and responses to comments.
- Assist with constructability reviews and installation sequence considerations.
- Provide oversight, guidance and quality review for junior/intermediate structural designers.
Skills & experience
- 8–12 years of experience in structural design for industrial or offshore facilities.
- Offshore project experience is mandatory (MUST).
- Proven experience with AVEVA E3D and/or Hexagon Smart 3D (required).
- Strong experience in EPC/EPCIC environments.
- Technical expertise in:
• Offshore structural modeling (jackets, topsides)
• Interpretation of structural calculation reports
• Structural detailing for offshore fabrication
• Welding standards, structural profiles and tolerances
• Constructability‑focused offshore design - Familiarity with standards such as API RP 2A / ISO 19902, AISC, AWS and operator/EPC specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks (desirable), and Smart Review/Smart P&ID interfaces.
- Strong discipline coordination capabilities and a high degree of precision and quality focus.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Fluent technical English (reading, writing, communication).
