Job Description

Location: Richmond, BC

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 4 days on site (Monday to Thursday)

Job Summary:

Semtech is building the next generation of AI-powered commercial workflows across its global sales organization. This 8-month co-op is a hands-on, production-oriented role embedded within Sales Operations. You will work directly with the Senior Director of Global Sales Operations to design, test, and document AI-enabled workflows that improve efficiency, consistency, and insight across real sales processes. This is not a research role — your work will be used by sellers, distributors, and sales leadership. The ideal candidate is curious, operationally minded, and has a genuine interest in applying AI to solve business problems.

This role is best suited for students who enjoy figuring out how things work and making them work better. You don’t need to be a software engineer — but you do need to be comfortable with data, curious about AI, and motivated by operational impact. If you’ve ever built a workflow to automate something in your own life, used AI tools to solve a real problem, or found yourself thinking ‘there has to be a better way to do this’ — this is for you.

Responsibilities:

AI Workflow Development & Testing

  • Research, design, and build AI-enabled workflow automations targeting repeatable sales operations tasks (e.g., account research, CRM data enrichment, meeting prep, follow-up summaries)

  • Test and validate workflows across edge cases to ensure accuracy, reliability, and repeatability before deployment

  • Configure AI-assisted summarization, data processing, and exception-based logic steps within approved operational frameworks

  • Support prompt engineering and iteration for tools including Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and Vinton AI

  • Document automation logic, inputs, outputs, and governance notes so solutions can be maintained and reused

Sales Process & Data Analysis

  • Map existing sales workflows to identify friction points, manual steps, and automation candidates

  • Analyze operational and CRM data to surface trends, gaps, and opportunities for AI-assisted improvement

  • Assist in building dashboards and reports to track AI tool adoption, usage patterns, and productivity impact

  • Support data preparation, cleaning, and validation to ensure high-quality inputs for AI workflows

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with Sales Enablement, Salesforce Admins, and commercial team members to gather requirements and validate solutions

  • Present findings, workflow designs, and test results to the Sales Operations and AI Ambassador teams and relevant stakeholders

  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge base articles, and user guides for deployed AI workflows

  • Participate in the AI Ambassador program and support broader AI adoption initiatives across the commercial team

What You’ll Gain:

  • Direct exposure to how AI is applied within a real enterprise sales environment — not academic simulations

  • Hands-on experience with leading AI tools: Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Vinton AI, and Salesforce-integrated AI agents

  • Practical skills in workflow design, operational analytics, and stakeholder communication

  • Experience that translates directly into careers in Sales Ops, Revenue Ops, AI Strategy, or Digital Transformation

  • Mentorship from a Sales Operations Leader with active responsibility for AI adoption across a global commercial team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Business, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Demonstrated interest in AI tools and workflow automation — through coursework, personal projects, or hands-on experimentation

  • Basic understanding of sales processes and commercial operations (e.g., lead management, pipeline, CRM usage)

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to break down operational problems and propose structured solutions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams); comfort working in data-rich environments

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to document technical logic for non-technical audiences

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and navigate ambiguity

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or equivalent) in an applied or academic context

  • Programming experience in Python, particularly for data manipulation, automation scripting, or API interaction

  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM — even basic navigation or coursework (Trailhead counts)

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau

  • Exposure to prompt engineering, LLM-based workflows, or no-code/low-code automation platforms (Zapier, Power Automate, n8n, or similar)

  • Knowledge of SQL or experience querying structured datasets

  • Prior co-op or internship experience in a business operations, analytics, or technology role
