Job Description

Job Title: Buyer-Planner (Entry Level)


Department: Materials / Supply Chain
Reports To: Materials Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The Buyer Planner is responsible for the procurement and planning of electronic components and materials to support production schedules in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume contract manufacturing environment. This role requires close coordination with engineering, production, suppliers, and logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute material planning strategies based on MRP requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders for electronic components, PCBs, and mechanical parts.
  • Manage POs to meet changing production requirements.
  • Coordinate with production planners to support build schedules and resolve material shortages.
  • Maintain accurate lead times, pricing, and supplier information in ERP systems.
  • Manage inventory levels to avoid excess to meet customer and production needs.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations, alternate sourcing, or procurement strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Oracle,NetSuite, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, BOM structures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • APICS or CPM certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with IPC standards, RoHS compliance, and other industry regulations.
  • Experience with contract manufacturing business models and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma exposure is advantageous.
