Position Overview

Schaefer Plastics is seeking a hands-on, high-accountability Production Supervisor to help lead daily manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment. This is not a sit-behind-the-desk leadership role. We are looking for someone who can step onto the floor, take ownership, set the tempo for the shift, support the team in real time, and drive results in safety, productivity, quality, and accountability.

The Production Supervisor will oversee shift execution, support front-line leadership, monitor workflow, address production issues as they arise, and ensure the floor is operating efficiently and in alignment with production priorities. This role is critical in creating structure on the floor, improving communication across shifts, and making sure teams have the direction and support needed to perform.

The right candidate is confident, decisive, operationally strong, and comfortable leading in a manufacturing environment where priorities can shift quickly. This person must be able to balance people leadership with day-to-day execution while maintaining high expectations for attendance, performance, urgency, and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily production floor operations to ensure safety, quality, output, and labor expectations are met

  • Provide clear direction, support, and accountability to shift employees and front-line team members

  • Set the tone for the shift by identifying priorities, addressing issues quickly, and keeping operations moving

  • Monitor workflow, staffing coverage, and floor activity to ensure production objectives stay on track

  • Respond to production challenges in real time, including labor gaps, equipment issues, quality concerns, material flow disruptions, and operational delays

  • Partner with leadership to communicate problems, escalate risks, and minimize downstream customer impact

  • Help maintain an organized, disciplined, and productive manufacturing environment

  • Ensure production paperwork, floor checks, and required documentation are completed accurately and on time

  • Support coordination between production, materials, setup, and other functional areas to ensure work is staged and ready to run

  • Drive adherence to quality standards and verify production is being performed according to established processes

  • Reinforce safety expectations, housekeeping standards, and compliance with plant policies and procedures

  • Coach employees on performance, attendance, conduct, and day-to-day expectations

  • Support corrective action, employee development, and ongoing performance management as needed

  • Assist with shift coverage and leadership continuity when operational needs require flexibility

  • Serve as a visible leadership presence on the floor and help create consistency across shifts

What We’re Looking For

  • A strong manufacturing leader who is comfortable being visible, engaged, and accountable on the production floor

  • Someone who can lead with urgency, make sound decisions, and hold people accountable

  • A supervisor who understands that production leadership requires flexibility, follow-through, and a willingness to step in where needed

  • A professional who can earn credibility with the team while also upholding standards

  • A leader who thrives in an environment where operations run around the clock and where shift support matters

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Prior experience leading teams in a high-volume production setting

  • Technical training or experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment preferred

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced setting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Good math and basic reporting skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Ability to work a schedule that supports production operations and business needs

Why Join Schaefer Plastics?

At Schaefer, we are building a stronger manufacturing operation by investing in leadership on the floor. This role is an opportunity to make a real impact — not just maintain the status quo. You will be part of a company that values operational excellence, continuous improvement, and leaders who are willing to step in, solve problems, and help build stronger teams.

If you are a hands-on manufacturing leader who takes pride in running an efficient shift, developing people, and creating accountability on the floor, we’d love to hear from you.
