- Process and maintain accurate records for all Maintenance Department financial transactions
- Verify, process, and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, and payments for the Maintenance Department
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable related to maintenance operations
- Maintain complete, systematic, and auditable bookkeeping records
- Monitor expenditures to ensure spending does not exceed approved budgets or allotments
- Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Maintenance Department budget
- Prepare financial reports, summaries, and documentation as required by district administration and the Finance Office
- Coordinate payroll documentation and reporting for maintenance staff in accordance with district procedures
- Maintain accurate payroll and leave records for assigned cost centers
- Issue and track purchase orders and maintain purchasing documentation
- Maintain records related to supplies, materials, equipment, and vendor transactions
- Assist with financial components of the Brightly work order system and other maintenance-related software
- Maintain records related to facility usage applications and ensure appropriate billing when applicable
- Serve as a liaison between the Maintenance Department and the Finance Office regarding accounting and bookkeeping matters
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information
- Provide professional communication and positive customer service to district staff, vendors, and external partners

Perform related work, as assigned or required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related financial field required
- Experience in a public school district or governmental accounting environment preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding district financial and personnel matters
Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license or ability to provide own transportation if required for district business or training
- Work requires occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force

Salary: $34,257 base salary (based on verified full-time experience and education)
Location: The normal place of work is on the premises used by Darlington County School District. Darlington County School District reserves the right to require you to work at such other place or places as it may reasonably require.

General Definition of Work:
The Maintenance Department Bookkeeper performs intermediate skilled administrative and bookkeeping duties with limited decision-making discretion. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, coordinating payroll documentation, monitoring budgets, and supporting purchasing and financial compliance for the Maintenance Department. The employee performs accounting and bookkeeping functions in accordance with district policies, Board procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations to promote the efficient operation of maintenance and operations services.
