We are excited to invite a motivated and detail-oriented Release of Information Specialist to join our dedicated Medical Records team at Coryell Health. In this vital role, you will be the bridge between patients, healthcare providers, and external entities, ensuring the accurate and timely release of medical records while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. Your work will directly contribute to patient care by facilitating the smooth and secure exchange of health information. Responsibilities:

  • Process and respond to requests for medical records accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations regarding patient information privacy, including HIPAA.
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of all releases and communications.
  • Verify requester identification and the validity of requests prior to releasing information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to coordinate the release of information.
  • Handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to medical records requests.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and external requestors regarding medical records inquiries.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • Training and Experience: On-the-job training. Previous ROI experience preferred.
  • Job Knowledge: Ability to type at minimum 40 words per minute. Familiarity with computer programs and office equipment (photocopier, fax machine, microfiche, etc.) preferred.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Acute sense of responsibility, loyalty, and dedication.
  • Professional behavior.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
