Job Description

The Corporate Controller is responsible for leading and managing the financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions of the organization. They play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, providing timely and accurate financial reports to senior management and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role will be based out of the Frisco office and reports directly to the VP of Finance, with regular and frequent interaction with RCM, HR, employees, practice leadership, and the executive team.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.

Ensure, above all, financial reports comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and report to senior management when process isn’t complying.

Monitor monthly financial transactions to ensure they are following developed procedures and in compliance with internal controls.

Financial Analysis:

Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control or revenue enhancement.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Collaborate with other departments to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Monitor actual performance against budgeted and forecasted figures and make necessary adjustments.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. This includes internal audit designs and procedures.

Participant in external audits and regulatory reporting, including tax compliance.

Financial Systems and Processes:

Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Implement and maintain accounting software and tools.

Team Leadership:

Recruit, train, and manage a team of finance professionals.

Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback to staff.

Become a SME for all “ordinary” accounting transactions.

Financial Strategy:

Contribute to the development and execution of the company's financial and strategic plans.

Assess and manage financial risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

Communication:

Communicate financial results, strategies, and forecasts to management.

Build strong relationships with practices, department leaders, and outside vendors as needed.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Several years of progressive experience in financial management and accounting roles, with prior experience as a Controller or similar position.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP or IFRS, financial reporting, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment and work under pressure.
  • Strong focus on providing high quality service to internal and external customers.
