About This Opportunity
We are looking for a strong Java Application Support Engineer to join our global Financial Services application support team, made up of team members in the United States, Brazil, and India. Ideally, you will have several years of Java/J2EE support experience. You will monitor, troubleshoot, deploy, and debug existing applications. Relational Database experience with SQL, MySQL, Oracle SQL, or PL/SQL experience is preferred. Deployment experience using Jenkins is highly preferred. Our team works in an Agile Scrum environment with daily stand-ups and sprint meetings. You will be a part of an on-call rotation once you are trained on our applications.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00AM - 2:00PM BRT
Responsibilities
- Java application support
- Monitor, troubleshoot, deploy, and debug existing applications
- Debug software components, identify, fix, and verify remediation of code defects (own work and the work of others)
- Support and maintain projects developed by the team and assist in production deployment and outages
- Configure, deploy, debug, monitor, and document new system features and enhancements using Jenkins
- Successfully communicate designs, research, and potential issues with team members
- Collaborate with business professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for software development projects.
- Participate in rotational 24x7 on-call 3rd/4th level support
Qualifications
- Associate Degree, or, Technologo (Technologist) Degree, or higher is required.
- 4+ Years of Java/J2EE application support experience
- 2+ years of Relational Database experience
- 2+ years of CI/CD tools (Jenkins)
- 2+ years of experience on Linux platform
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Design principles
- Knowledge of the full lifecycle of software development including use of version control tools, build management, unit testing, issue tracking software (e.g. SVN, Git, Maven, Jenkins, JIRA)
- Excellent organizational skills, self-administration, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and effective prioritization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to meet objectives
- Experience with the following technologies preferred:
- Spring/Spring-MVC/Spring Batch/Spring Boot is a plus
- Tomcat, JBoss
- REST Services, SOAP Services
- Relational Database experience
- JIRA & Confluence
- Dynatrace & Splunk
