Job Description

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

 

Activity sector: Pulp and Paper

Site: Kamloops, BC

Salary Range:  $105,000 - $130,140

Schedule: Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off)

YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will be involved with projects, maintenance, and reliability assignments.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

ü  Managing and executing mill capital and major maintenance projects

ü  Working closely with Area Manufacturing Superintendents, Maintenance Supervisors and Process Engineers to implement mill design changes and improvements

ü  Analyzing and engineering-out repetitive mechanical problems

ü  Preparing and coordinating maintenance shutdowns

ü  Supervising the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with all company policies, governmental regulations, and facility operating and housekeeping standards

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES

ü  Team player with strong written and verbal communication skills

ü  Ability to work across organizational boundaries

ü  Strong organizational skills

ü  Self-starter with strong personal initiative and follow-through

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

ü  Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent

ü  Minimum of 4 years industrial experience, and eligible for registration with The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia

Preferred:

ü  Pulp and Paper experience

ü  Project management and construction management experience

ü  Knowledge and experience with ASME Boiler/Pressure Vessel Code
