Job Description

Description:

The psychology department is looking for a Psychology Teaching Assistant to primarily assist with PSYC-100 (Introductory Psychology) and PSYC-200Q (Introductory Research Methods and Statistics). The Psychology Teaching Assistant would also assist with departmental tasks. 

Responsibilities:

The psychology teaching assistant would primarily be responsible for:

  • Assisting with grading of assignments or exams, particularly in PSYC-100 and PSYC-200
  • Hosting evening exam review sessions for PSYC-100 and PSYC-200 (per instructor’s request)
  • Proctoring exams for psychology professors 
  • Compiling information for the psychology website (e.g., new stories, photos, videos)
  • Sending out a (monthly) newsletter to psychology majors, minors, and alums that might include upcoming events, local conference opportunities, grad school, internship and job opportunities, and fun items (e.g., psychology in the news or today in the history of psychology)
  • Acting as student advisors to new majors and sophomore students to help familiarize them with the department and requirements
  • Holding a weekly drop-in office hour for questions about PSYC-100, 200, or advising
  • Assisting with departmental events as needed (e.g., Admitted Students Day)

Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time student at Ursinus College
  • Must be a junior or senior majoring in psychology and have completed PSYC-200Q.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Student should be proficient in APA format and have experience using Jamovi.
