Job Description

LEGACY EARLY COLLEGE OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school that originated through the vision of businessman William Brown in 2009 with an unwavering focus on “To and Through College” at every grade level. Legacy’s model combines academics, nutrition, physical fitness, and mental health. In addition to our college driven academic standards, meals are made on site, scholars participate in PE every day and Social-Emotional Literacy is integrated in the culture and curriculum. We currently occupy the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Legacy Early College (“Legacy”) is looking for a teacher with the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The candidate must be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes knowledge, skills, and character traits needed to succeed through college and beyond. This position reports to the School Principal.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of students

·       Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor

·       Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to the students

·       Assess student learning, through observations, authentic performance, and more formal methods, in an ongoing manner, providing frequent student feedback, information to parents and written progress reports

·       Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations

·       Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct

·       Participate in all professional development opportunities

·       Actively participate in team meeting sand serve on staff committees

·       Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members

·       Perform other job-related duties as assigned

 

Skills & Qualifications

·       Required: Bachelor’s degree

·       Preferred: Teaching certificate*

·       *South Carolina Teacher Certification may be REQUIRED for specific positions, such as: Special Education, ML/ ESOL, High Course with EOC exams, etc.

Work Schedule

Teachers will operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, on the 10-month academic school year schedule. A typical week during normal school hours is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

 

Physical Demands

·       Long periods of standing and sitting and having the ability to lift items up to 25lbs. is required.

·       Position will require travel.

·       Periodic participation in activities to support Legacy Early College is required.

 

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development of the region and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
