Join Our Team as an Electrical PLC / Control Specialist at Johnson Electric!

Location: Ancaster, ON (Onsite)
Facility: PMDA
Department: Maintenance
Salary Range: $90K-100K annually

As our next Electrical PLC / Control Specialist, you will be a key technical leader within the Maintenance team, responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and improving electrical control and automation systems. You will support new machine integration, continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor maintenance personnel in advanced automation technologies.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing, developing, and implementing electrical control systems
  • Programming PLC platforms including Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, and ControlLogix
  • Programming and modifying HMI, servo, robotics, and automation systems
  • Integrating electrical and control systems for new and existing equipment
  • Coordinating and supervising machine startups and process launches
  • Designing control panels, wiring diagrams, and bills of material
  • Troubleshooting high‑voltage electrical systems, wiring, and components
  • Supporting and improving automation cells through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Instructing maintenance personnel on automation system functionality and programming
  • Mentoring licensed electricians in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Ensuring compliance with all Quality Management, Safety, and Environmental systems
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • University degree in Electrical Engineering or a related college diploma
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in control systems and data acquisition within an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Hands‑on expertise with PLCs, HMIs, servos, robotics, and automation systems
  • Experience acting as a technical lead on multidisciplinary projects is an asset
  • Strong troubleshooting and system integration skills
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High integrity, dependability, and results‑oriented mindset

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures
  • Physical requirements include climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, walking extensively, and operating material‑handling equipment
  • Use of specialized protective equipment may be required
