Are you passionate about horses and have general stable experience?  Are you looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity for the summer? We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team at the ARU Writtle Equine Resource Unit, located at the Cow Watering Campus.  

Location: ARU Writtle – Cow Watering Campus
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: 31st August 2026
Working Hours: 8-hour shifts on Saturday and/or Sundays you can select the shifts you are available for.
Rate of Pay: £13.45 per hour

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Equine Resources, this role supports the smooth running of our Equine Resource Department, with a strong focus on horse care and the maintenance of our high-quality equestrian facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • General stable duties: mucking out, feeding, grooming, and preparing horses for student practical sessions
  • Exercising horses from the ground
  • Maintenance of fencing and grazing areas using agricultural machinery
  • General site upkeep: weeding, tidying, and mowing

The successful candidate will be confident working with horses and will work closely with senior yard staff to uphold the highest standards of equine care, in line with BHS guidelines.

Person Specification:

To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar equine care role
  • Confidence and competence in handling horses
  • A proactive and reliable approach to work
  • Willingness to work outdoors and undertake physical tasks
