Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: LITTLE BRONCETTES CAMP COUNSELOR

The Little Broncettes Camp Counselor is a part time seasonal position that may require additional hours per week. Camp Counselor should display a desire to work with children through positive interaction and role modeling while creating and teaching Cheer technique and choreography.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Acts as a positive role model while teaching and encouraging healthy leisure lifestyle.
  •  Interacts positively and professionally with campers.
  • Leads and helps plan daily activities.
  • Maintains and implements safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-rounded program in a safe, positive environment.
  • Will attend all scheduled trainings and meetings as deemed necessary by the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Will enforce all Summer Camp policies and procedures.
  • Creates and instructs cheer, dance and poms routines for participants ages 5-11

 

SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT:

  • Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
  • Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan
  • Attend professional educational and safety trainings
  • Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
  • Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor
  • Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
  • Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear or read
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and over 30 pounds with assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
