REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE/TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR
and AUXILIARY SERVICES ASSISTANT
ROLE AND PURPOSE:
Maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence
so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Certification/Education:
1. Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety
procedures
2. Attend training for Pesticide/Herbicide licensing
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal or written instructions.
Knowledge to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
Ability to lift from 20 to 30 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Knowledge of athletic and turf management
Knowledge of building and ground maintenance and basic techniques of
minor repairs
Demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of the tasks assigned
Ability to work independently

ATHLETIC GROUNDSKEEPER
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure that auxiliary
services are supportive of the instructional goals.
2. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
3. Know location and proper care and use of all fire-fighting equipment.
4. Assume the responsibility of opening and closing the building.
5. Establish and follow procedures for locking, checking, and safe-guarding
facilities.
6. Maintain the grounds of all CCISD game and practice fields.
7. Cut the lawns, using power mowers and hand mowers; trim and edge around
walks, spray lawn, shrubs, and trees with insecticide and fertilizer; rake, clean,
sweep, and deposit litter complying with local laws and procedures for storage
and disposal of litter.
8. Repair fences, gates, walls, and walks using carpentry and masonry tools.
Paint fences and outbuildings as needed.
9. Operate tractor equipment with attachments such as mowers, lime or
fertilizer spreader, lawn roller and other machinery as required.
10. Mark the fields with a marking machine.
11. Scrub, hose down, and disinfect showers and toilet floors, clean all sanitary fixtures,
hardware, tile, mirrors, and etc. Replenish restrooms with supplies as needed.
12. Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.
13. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance
as required.
14. Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and order
additional supplies as needed.
15. Remain on the school premises during school hours and during non- school
hours when the use of the grounds have been authorized and his/her attendance
is required by the supervisor.
16. Plan and maintain a high standard of safety, efficiency, good housekeeping
methods in all areas of work.
17. Strive constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of students
and employees.
18. Follow all safety codes and standards.
19. Maintain clean/neat appearance.
20. Complete job assignments in a reasonable length of time.
21. Perform duties without supervision.

41. Take care of vehicles and equipment furnished by Calhoun County ISD.
42. Keep the assigned vehicle clean and stocked with supplies.
43. Return equipment used when job assignment is complete.
44. Practice rules and regulations regarding Sexual Harassment and
FERPA Laws.
45. Perform other duties as assigned.
